Example: Rotating Louver Panel Responding to an Attractor or Function in Grasshopper

This is another tutorial created by Parametric House, an excellent YouTube channel to follow for Grasshopper tips and workflows. Be sure to subscribe to keep up with new tutorials and reward them for sharing their work.

This is example shows how louver panels can respond to an attractor point that determines the height of the folds and the rotation for each of the panels.

The first 10 minutes of the video are very similar to the last example of having the folding louver panels respond to an adjustable line. The differences start around 10:10 in the video.

The essential steps are:

  • 10:40 - Create a range of values — one for each louver.
  • 11:41 - Use a graph (or a formula or function) to compute values to be associated with each item in the range.
