Perform a Carbon Analysis

(credit: from Autodesk Help Page)

Upload your building model for analysis in Insight - Tech Preview.

Insight - Tech Preview can be found under the Product Updates tab or under the All Products and Services tab Product Updates. Click the Revit card and look under Extensions.

As a Cloud service, updates to Carbon Insights are made automatically, without need for a version upgrade.

Start Carbon Analysis

  1. Click Analyze tab Carbon Insight Panel  (Analyze) to create an analytical model based on the current building model.
  2. If you are not already logged into Revit, you are directed to the Autodesk login page.

A dialog box displays detailing the workflow for running a Carbon Analysis.

Note: If the analytical model is out of date with the building model, a dialog box displays providing you with the option to choose to update the analytical model or use the existing analytical model.

  3. Click Continue.
  4. View the analysis. The model begins processing.

View Type
Description
View Embodied Carbon by Materials
Identify the embodied carbon hotspots in materials.
View Embodied Carbon Intensity by Area
Identifies whether the embodied carbon in a construction is a result of high embodied carbon intensity or because the construction is used frequently in the model.
View Embodied Carbon by Construction
Identifies embodied carbon in each construction in the model. This view provides the option to have the selected construction or material highlighted in the corresponding elements in the 3D Model Viewer and the Construction Summary Table for easy identification of embodied carbon hotspots.

Construction Summary

The construction summary lists the constructions and their material layers including descriptions, attributes, quantities, embodied carbon assignments and embodied carbon results.

You can view constituent materials by expanding the construction name in the summary.
