The principal advantages of using a single buidling information model of the existing conditions as the foundation for modeling proposed additions/renovations is that the viewer can more clearly see how the new changes will interact with the existing building. By having a clear interconnected view, the viewer has more clarity over what the final product will look like. This will aid in engineering choices and make the building process more seamless.
What are the principal advantages of using a single building information model of the existing conditions as the foundation for modeling several proposed design alternatives for a portion of the building?
In my project, the features that I chose to model as my design alternatives was the protective walls around the stairwell. The reason why I chose this as a design alternative was that i thought that aesthetically the viewer could prefer one design choice over the other. The principal advantages of using a single building information model of the existing conditions as the foundation for modeling several proposed design alternatives is that we have a baseline that we can compare both alternatives too.
