Solar Decathlon 2011 Teams Use BIM to Create Winning Designs
The winners of the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2011 were announced this past weekend. The 2 year contest culminated at the National Mall’s West Potomac Park in Washington, D.C. last week where the final 20 teams built their sustainable structures. The University of Maryland won top honors overall by designing, building, and operating the most cost effective, energy efficient and attractive solar powered house.

All of the participants used elements of the Autodesk BIM platform for their design work -- including Autodesk Revit Architecture, Autodesk Ecotect Analysis and Project Vasari.
This video includes interviews with architecture and engineering students describing how they used BIM in their design work. Two of the five teams interviewed won top honors – including Overall Winnerand People’s Choice Winner.
